On Wednesday 28th October, 2020 WORC’s Employment Services and National Training & Development Teams completed the final part of a 3 part workshop on Disability Awareness & Barriers to Disability Employment facilitated by Lynne Currie of the the Special Needs Foundation of the Cayman Islands.
Employment Services Manager Tania Ebanks commented "It is timely and fitting that October is also designated as Disability Employment Awareness Month.
This is the latest in WORC’s efforts to ensure professional development opportunities are ongoing for its staff to enhance service delivery. This is especially important to ensure this essentially untapped demographic of jobseekers, persons with disabilities, are able to achieve their goal of gaining employment.
The teams have come away with a better understanding of how to foster inclusive relationships within the employment community.
WORC thanks those employers who are already offering an inclusive environment and hiring persons with disabilities and encourages the wider employment community to consider the valuable contribution persons will special needs can make to their organizations. They are ABLE and they are EmployABLE!”
